START A CHAPTER

Circle of Friends provides two years of consultation with three Workshops each year and unlimited phone/email support between Workshops to schools/districts for the development of chapters. We give a manual, guidance, and modeling in a systematic approach which enables new school chapters to be self-sufficient at the end of this time period. We demonstrate ways to recruit and train general education students, showing them how to model and shape the social language skills of their new friends with special needs. During our Workshops, we develop strategies of intervention as students both with and without disabilities interact. Our carefully designed Disability Awareness presentation allows students from your site to speak to classes, thereby bringing a better understanding and acceptance of differences to the entire campus.
