Start A Chapter
Circle of Friends (CoF) provides districts with two years of consultation as they develop program chapters. Three workshops are conducted in Year 1 and Year 2. Unlimited phone/email support between workshops and a comprehensive manual is included.
CoF offers support and strategies that enable new chapters to become self-sufficient by the third year.
During workshops, Program Facilitators-knowledgeable speech language pathologists or special education teachers - work with school-site teams of CoF Advisors as they select students who need support, recruit general education, and plan activities that create connection while modeling social skills.
Trained CoF Advisors then facilitate interaction between students with and without disabilities on campus. Student leaders organize inclusive events and opportuities to share what they’ve learned in CoF—promoting an understanding and acceptance of differences across the entire campus.
